The Royal Mile Gallery
We are a small, family run business that was opened by James (Jock) Auld-Smith in the late 80s. Since then his son Alex has joined in to help with the ever growing stock. Located on The Royal Mile in Edinburgh’s Old Town they are known around the world as a truly unique and independent wee shop. James has recently retired leaving Alex at the helm to steer the shop into the 21st century.
James began his career in London at what was then Bonham’s Auction house where he worked his way up from a cleaner to being the head of Antiquarian Books and Prints. Alex grew up running around the shop and absorbed some of James’s encyclopaedic knowledge through osmosis.
